Ronny Mae Boyd Hill was born December 23, 1958, in Ridge Spring- Monetta, SC.  She was the daughter of the late Henry Boyd and Fannie Washington. She departed this earthly life on June 25, 2021, in Sparta, Georgia.

Ronny was educated in the Aiken County Schools.

She was a farm worker in the nursery.

She will be truly missed by her beloved family.

Johnny Anthony (Tony) Bryant of Johnston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 26, 2021. He was born May 15, 1965, to the late Johnny Luther Bryant and Hattie Merriweather Bryant. .

He was a graduate of Strom Thurmond High School.

He was employed with Stone Manufacturing and Amick Farms.

Tony was a very enjoyable person to family and friends.

Sara Marshall was born August 9, 1962, in Edgefield County, SC. She was the daughter of James B. Marshall and Elizabeth Edwards. She entered the sunset of her life on June 23, 2021.

She was employed with the Plastic Product of the South as a Machine Operator.

Sara was such a sweet woman who was well known in the community. She would do what was needed for all and especially her family. She loved to cook and was good at it.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Marshall.

Mr. Nicolus Brown

Mr. Nicolus “Nick” Maurice Brown, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 28, 2021 in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. He was born May 3, 1977 to Patricia Tolen Brown and Manuel L. Brown.

He resided in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. He was educated in the Lexington County School system in Batesburg-Leesville. He was a past employee of Lizard’s Thicket in Lexington, South Carolina. At an early age, he joined Wesley Chapel CME Church of Batesburg-Leesville.

Nick leaves behind to cherish his memories: his parents – Patricia Tolen Brown of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Manuel L. Mr. Michael B. Robinson was called home on Monday, April 5, 2021.

He was born to the late Everlean Robinson but was raised by his grandparents, the late Arthur and Lessie Williams.

Michael was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Robinson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: two sisters – Fannie Mae Denny of the home and Phyllis “Dimp” Carter of Columbia, South Carolina; two aunts – Eartha Ruth Miles of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Gloria Williams of Lexington, South Carolina; his treasured best friend – Max Robinson; sister/cousin – Angela Rena Williams of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

MR. WALLACE HUMPHREY, JR., 69, was born June 28, 1951 in Lexington County, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, South Carolina.

He was the third born son of the late Grace Green Humphrey and Wallace Humphrey, Sr. Wallace was educated in the public schools of Edgefield County, graduating from W.E. Parker High School, Class of 1970.

Wallace was the first black police officer in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. He was also employed by Amos & Sons Funeral Homes for many years. He was well known in the midlands of South Carolina and beyond.

Wallace was a member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina where he was a Trustee and a member of the Mass Choir. Wallace was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Ira Lee Humphrey and John D. Humphrey; a sister, Joyce Makonnen; an aunt, Virginia Casteal and a close cousin, Ellis Green.

Those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories include: a loving wife – Yvonne Watson Humphrey of the home; two daughters – Erica (Nelson) Abney of Gilbert, South Carolina and Adria Humphrey of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two sons – Frederick (Keiona) Julie of Clinton, South Carolina and Dexter (Eve) Julie of Lexington, South Carolina; a granddaughter reared in the home – ShaRece Humphrey of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; four sisters – Gloria Green of Ninety-Six, South Carolina, Juanita Coleman of Columbia, South Carolina, Diane (James) Cancer of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Mae Dean Denny of Augusta, Georgia; one cousin who was like a brother – Ira Green, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; four sisters-in-law – Annie Caughman of Lexington, South Carolina, Judy (Joe) Lewis of Augusta, Georgia, Shelby (David) Clark and Yvonne S. Watson, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; six brothers-in-law – James W. (Betty) Watson of Salley, South Carolina, James E. Watson of Prosperity, South Carolina, Tommy (Frances) Watson of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, Russell Watson and Joe (Phyllis) Watson, both of Lexington, South Carolina and Taskete Makonnen of Laurel, Maryland; special loved ones – Shawanda and Fred Parker; fourteen grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends and associates who will miss his presence in the B-L community.

MR. JOSH MARTIN, JR., 70, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Saluda Nursing Center in Saluda, South Carolina.

Born in Saluda County, South Carolina on March 1, 1950, he was the son of the late Annell Gortman and the late Josh Martin, Sr. He attended Lexington County schools and was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.

Josh was employed by the Town of Batesburg-Leesville for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Louise Martin; two daughters, Elvina James and Mary Alice Adams; two grandsons, Jonathan Sulton and Jessie James; two brothers, Rosell Martin and Jimmie Marshall; four sisters, Rose Virginia Gantt, Annie Ruth Hill, Ann Wallace and Betty Jean Gunter.

Those left to cherish his memories include: his daughter – Maconya Kinard (Willie Brown) of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one son – LaQuarius Brannon of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one aunt – Fannie Mae Martin; one sister – Rhonda (Jabbar) Simpkins of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one brother – John Arthur Langford of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two grandsons – Marcus Smith and Rashard Lee, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.

Mrs. Willie Mae Stroman

Mrs. Willie Mae Stroman, daughter of the late Helen Ridgell, was born on January 23, 1947 in Leesville, South Carolina. She departed her earthly life on the morning of Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina. She lived to 73 years of age.

Willie Mae graduated from Twin-City High School of Batesburg, South Carolina. She was a member of Calvary A.M.E Church in Batesburg, South Carolina. Willie Mae enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and fishing with her husband.

Willie Mae married John H. Stroman on April 21, 1966 and enjoyed a blissful and loving 54 years of marriage together. She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother - Betty Jo (Tommie) Etheredge, Shirley (Charlie) Cook, Martha (Leroy) Caughman, Duretha Black, and Jake Summers.

Willie Mae leaves behind a wealth of memories that will continued to be celebrated and cherished by her family: Her husband – John H. Stroman; two daughters – Darlene (Sylvester) Cancer, Victoria Stroman; two sons – Joe (Andrea) Stroman, Jonathan (Melanie) Stroman. Five grandchildren – Jacori Stroman, Taylor Cancer, Jayla Stroman, Jonah and Noah Stroman. Two brothers-in-law – Randy (Kathy) Scott, L.C. Scott. Three sisters-in-law – Shirley (Ronnie) Mears, Mary Alice Thomas, and Peggy (O’Neal) Simmons and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

Mr. Daniel Nathaniel Robinson

Mr. Daniel Nathaniel Robinson was born on June 17, 1986 in Queens, New York. He was the son of Mr. George Junior Robinson and the late Donna Jean Corley. He departed this life October 11, 2019.

He was educated in the schools of Edgefield County, SC. 

At an early age, he joined the Bacon Chapel Holiness Church in Johnston, SC.

He enjoyed rapping, smiling, dancing, family, drawing, women, children, telling old stories, and he was a comedian.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Jean Corley.

Willie (Bill) Burt

June 16, 1957 ~ December 5, 2019

Mr. Willie (Bill) Lee Burt, son of the late Frank Burt, Sr. and Mattie Padgett Burt, was born in Greenwood, SC on June 16, 1957. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the University Hospital in Augusta, GA.

He received his education in the public schools of Edgefield County, SC and graduated from Strom Thurmond High School.

At an early age, he became a member of Willow Spring Baptist Church in Edgefield, SC.

He was employed by the International Paper Board in Johnston until his health declined. 

Bill, as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his parents., two brothers, Frank Burt, Sr. and Albert Burt; and six grandchildren, Milliken C. Watson, Jr, Stacy M. Johnson, Donovan C. Watson, Braylon C. Watson, Baby Williams and Baby Watson.

Bill will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He leaves to love and cherish his memories; three sons, Milliken C. (TiaWana) Watson, Sr, Edgefield, SC, Stacy Johnson, Sr. (Elizabeth Henderson), Augusta, GA , and Michael D.
