Korey K. Williams

North Augusta, SC-Graveside Services for Mr. Korey K. Williams will be held 12 Noon Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Viewing will be held 11am-6pm Friday, February 23 at the Funeral Home.

Korey Kinta Williams, 46 passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 3, 1977 in Edgefield SC, to Leonard and Ann Williams. He was a resident of North Augusta, SC and was a 1995 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School. Korey had a zest for life and was loved by many.


Korey is survived by his mother Ann Williams and step-father James Jones, his father Leonard Willams and step-mother Debra Williams, three sons Ashton, Logan, and Korey Jr. one sister Nicole Mance (Aldwin), two brothers, Desmond Slaughter (Cassandra),  Sheldon Garrett, a significant other, Kimberly Glover and her sons Jared and Zander, and a host of special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his Crew of friends. 


Mr. Larry Hill, Jr

Charlotte, NC-Funeral services for Mr. Larry Hill Jr. will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Rosa Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Winston Oliphant, Pastor/Officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be 11:00am-6:00pm Saturday at Amos & Sons Funeral Home.

Our beloved Larry was born on July 20, 1959. He was one of six children born to Larry Hill and Eva Sue Culbreath Hill. Larry departed this earthly life and transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Larry was a spiritual man who had much reverence for the Lord.

He received his formal education in the Edgefield County Public Schools and attended the Strom Thurmond High School.

Larry was a hard worker who provided for himself and his family. He worked as a truck driver for a while. He worked at Amick Farms for many years and when he moved to Charlotte, NC, he worked for the city of Charlotte.

Larry enjoyed life. He was thought of as a funny, loveable guy. He was a good and decent person who was kind-hearted, giving and a sharing individual. He would be there for you in your time of need. He was a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Hill and Eva Sue Culbreath Hill. and a brother, Jack Hill.

He leaves to love honor and cherish his memory; brothers, Bill Hill (Gail), Robert Hill (Patricia Hill) who he truly loved), George Hill, and Michael Hill (Naomi), sisters, Gloria Hill (Barry), and Janice Hill.; uncles, Robert Etheredge, Jimmy Etheredge, and Cleveland Etheredge and a host of nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.

Deacon Larry Wendell Holston

Ward, SC- Funeral services for Deacon Larry Wendell Holston will be held 11:00am Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Ridge Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Donald Hall, Pastor/Eulogist. Viewing will be Wednesday 11:am -6:00pm. Visitation will be 6:00pm- 7:00pm Wednesday at the Amos & Sons Funeral Home, Johnston, SC.

Mr. Larry W. Holston, 73, resided in Ward, South Carolina before he transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Spartanburg, SC. Larry was born September 3, 1950. He was the son of Willie Calvin Holston, Sr. and Pearl Holston.

Larry accepted Christ at an early age and joined Ridge Hill Baptist Church, Ridge Spring, South Carolina. He served there faithfully for many, many years. He attended the public schools of Saluda County, graduating from Saluda County Schools. After graduating, he enlisted in the Army. He honorably served his country in the Vietnam War.

Following his service, Larry became employed with the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. He worked there for 30+ years helping and elevating family and friends .

He was married to Vivian Andrews Holston until her untimely death in 2019.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Willie Calvin Holston, Sr. and a sister, Grace Helen Holston.

Those left to cherish his memories include two children, Christopher Holston, Atlanta, GA and Tiffaney Holston-Tolen (Eric), Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Willie Calvin Holston, Jr. (Mabel), Ridge Spring, SC; three sisters, Pearlstine Walker and Barbara Reedy(Eugene) both of Aiken, SC and Vernell Williams (Larry), Johnston, SC; four grandchildren- Tre’Vioun Holston, Brooklynn Holston, Crsaunda Jones and JerMya Tolen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.


Betty Jean Strom Norman

Edgefield, SC- Funeral Services for Ms. Betty Jean Strom Norman will be held 2:30pm Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. She was born July 9 , 1954 the daughter of Harrison Strom and Elizabeth Bacon Strom.

She worked for many years in Greenwood County at Carolina Pride.

She leaves to love and cherish her memory a brother Leo (Althea) Strom and may other cherished family and friends.

Stephanie Darlene Upson

Ms. Stephanie Darlene Upson, affectionately known as “Darlene” was born on November 12, 1972, to the late Mrs. Mary Deloris Upson Sweeting and the late Mr. Bob Williams. She transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare after a brief illness.

Darlene was educated in the Edgefield County Schools. After graduating from Strom Thurmond High School in 1991, she matriculated at Aiken Technical College and received an Associate Degree in Business and Legal Office. Then, she started her career at Security Finance Corporation, where she was the Finance Branch Manager. This career lasted for over 25 years.

At an early age, Darlene joined Bland Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was an active member. If there was a song to sing, she sung it. If there was a tune, she hummed it. She was known for her gift of song. She sang at many weddings, receptions, funerals, and other events. The community knew her well for her ministry of song and her giving, loving spirit. Darlene also loved her family and was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of her spare time was spent with her cousins and family members. She will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted and loving daughter, Janette Q. Upson; loving brother Patrick (Shermette) Upson; two beautiful grandchildren, Madison Upson-Pough and Miquel Pough, Jr.; one handsome nephew, Dominick (Shameko) Johnson; four caring nieces, Shannon Johnson, Asheton (Aaron) Asforis, Chelsea Gailliard, and Kaitlin Upson; two goddaughters, Ashley Williams and Gabrielle Brown and a host of kind cousins, family, and friends.

Thomase “Tommie” Edmond Martin

Batesburg-Leesville, SC - Graveside services for Mrs. Thomase “Tommie” Edmond Martin will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, South Oak Street Family Plot, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, with Reverend Julianna Hosey officiating.

Thomase “Tommie” Edmond Martin was the daughter of the late Clabie D. and Connie Staley-Edmond. She was born on August 5, 1959, in Newberry, South Carolina. Thomase entered her eternal rest on January 2, 2024, at the family home in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.

Thomase accepted Christ at an early age at the Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church where she has been a faithful member throughout the years. She is a 1977 graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School. She was married to Tony Martin Sr on April 15, 1978, and had three wonderful children and three grandchildren.         

She worked for Michelin Tire Company until she was medically retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Janette Ramage, and one brother Clabie Cecil Edmond.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tony Martin Sr. of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two daughters, Tonisha Martin of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, and Toccarra Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, Tony (Jazmine) Martin of Columbia, South Carolina; four sisters, Luadell Edmond of Columbia, South Carolina, Naomi Edmond, Eurlee Steadman and Patrica Fulks, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, a sister-in-law, Jessie Edmond, Batesburg-Leesville, SC; two brothers, Larry (Sonya) Edmond of Augusta, Georgia and David (Angela) Edmond, Columbia, SC; four grandchildren; Antonio Martin, Trenton Martin, Tylan Martin, Camryn Martin; one uncle, Franklin D.R. (Patricia) Staley; two aunts, Beatrice (Willie) Stephens and Mary Ruth Sarter; one great-aunt, Katherine Babb, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other sorrowing relatives and friends.

Perry Griffin

Johnston, SC- Funeral services for Mr. Perry Griffin will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Amos & Sons Funeral Home, Johnston. The Rev. Quinn Blacks will officiate. Viewing will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday through 6:00 pm.

Perry Griffin, son of Georgia Ann Blacks Griffin and Adjie Griffin, Sr. was born October 2, 1961.

Anthony Davon Leaphart

Batesburg-Leesville - Anthony Davon Leaphart was born in Lexington County, South Carolina on October 31, 1977.  He was the son of the late Shirley Leaphart and the late Lindsay Robinson.  On Sunday, December 10, 2023, Anthony entered into eternal rest.  He is loved and missed by family and friends.

Anthony joined Wesley Chapel CME Church, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina at an early age and sang in the youth choir.  He was the best independent contractor. Anthony had a special bond with everyone in his family and was a confidant to many.  He was a true football fan of the Clemson Tigers and Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Leaphart; his father, Lindsay Robinson; maternal grandparents, Lucretia and Alonza Leaphart; paternal grandparents, Minnie Bell and Charles Robinson, Jr.; maternal great-grandparents, Alfred and Janie Coleman and one uncle, Leon Leaphart.

His memories are cherished by a son, Anthony Leaphart, Jr. of Saluda, South Carolina;  his brothers, Tyrone (Ashley) Leaphart, Derrell (Shermaine) Leaphart and Lindsay Robinson, Jr., all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; his sisters, Christie Leaphart (Eric Derrick) and Shanequa Jackson, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; step-father, Randolph Wigfall; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and special friends, Dominique Burgess, Lamont Rowe and Dread Smith.

Homegoing Services were held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the Wesley Chapel CME Church, located at 1501 Double Bridges Rd, Batesburg-Leesville, SC. Rev. Dr. Doris Hicks is the Pastor Officiating. Burial was in the Wesley Chapel CME Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Vivian Jay Weaver

Johnston, SC- Funeral Services for Mrs. Vivian Jay Weaver will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Mt. Alpha Baptist Church with the Rev. Eldwin Griffin, Pastor/ Officiating and the Rev. Jerome Coleman, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Sunset Garden Memorial Park, Johnston, SC. Viewing will be 11:00am-6:00pm Tuesday at the Amos & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vivian Jay Weaver, 76, was born May 28, 1947. She departed this earthly life on December 13, 2023, at her residence, 226 Lanier Road, Johnston, South Carolina, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Vassie Jay and Susie Ann Edwards Jay.

At an early age, she joined and was baptized at the Lotts Grove Baptist Church where she worked faithfully

On May 28, 1965, she became a graduate of W. E..Parker High School.

On May 7, 1971, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Johnny Mac Weaver. Unto this union, they were blessed with five children.

One son, Kelvin Travis Weaver and one daughter, Vickie Denise Weaver Harrison, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Reginal Weaver, Johnston, SC, Jammy Weaver, Augusta, GA, one daughter, Donna Weaver, Trenton, SC, one sister-in-law, Mary Weaver Harrison, Johnston, SC, six grandchildren, Khadijah Weaver, Rodshad Weaver, Olivia Quarles, Terrell Quarles, Vivica Harrison and Lianiah Weaver, two great grandchildren, Sanora Lovett and De’Ajah Lovett, and a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
